About Me

This is me on my graduation night.

Hi there and welcome to my book blog! I’m Shivalika Keni and I’m currently a high school senior on her way to college in three months. I will be studying Economics, Finance, and Spanish but hope to continue working with books in some other way. I created this blog for my love of reading and in the hopes that I’d be able to share my love of reading with the world and spread some happiness, in whatever little way possible.

I’ve always been a reader, something my Dad turned me into at a very young age. I grew up reading Harry Potter, The Magic Tree House, Junie B. Jones, Magic School Bus and a whole bunch of others. What really got me into reading was my local library’s books on tape where I was able to read books along with a cassette recording of the book; basically the old school version of audiobooks. I used to maximize my time in the school library and our local library. My library card was always in pristine condition and the song from the TV show Arthur, the Library Card Song, was the most relatable for me because having fun isn’t hard, when you’ve got a library card.

Some of my favorite books and series are The Infernal Devices and The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, The Fault In Our Stars by John Green, The Shopaholic Series and I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella, The Single Girl’s To-Do List and the I Heart series by Lindsey Kelk, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte and The Color Purple by Alice Walker.

I read a variety of genres. Those are mainly fantasy, dystopian, young adult and new adult contemporaries, classics and a few adult romances. I don’t gravitate towards sci-fi, historical fiction (though I’ve been trying these two genres), LGBTQ+, erotica, horror, and paranormal. I also don’t read non-fiction and plays (doing Shakespeare in class is always a challenge). If you have any recommendations, please do let me know, I’d love to try out new books.

This blog was started last year, so if you want to know more about my other books and my favorites, you can check out my Goodreads page. I’m very active and will answer any questions, or you can just shoot me a message and I’ll respond. I hope you enjoy my posts and do leave a comment so you can join in on the discussion.
